We are a team
that develops and uses a multi-body simulation tool, see enclosure.
There are topics related to computer science (e.g. parallel
computation), graphics,
and numerical methods and mechanics. We are an international team (Swedes,
English, Russian, German), with people located in Sweden (Goteborg
and Linkoping) and the Netherlands. The students will work under the
supervision of Alexander Siemers who is doing research and
development in the area of "Modelling and visualization of multi-body
simulation." The work includes user-interface design, graphics
programming, and object-oriented modelling. The main task, however,
will be programming in C++. Different tasks will be assigned to the
student depending on its knowledge and interest. As the knowledge
grows during the working period more challenging tasks will be
assigned to the student. Good knowledge of C++ is required.
Knowledge of Unix/Linux, OpenGL, Qt user interface programming, and
writing of Makefiles is advantageous. |

The calculation
of a parameter to estimate quantitatively the magnetic properties of
electrical steel based on texture measurements. In electrical steel
grades,
some magnetic parameters are beyond grain size, chemical composition
etc.
strongly dependent on the texture. Some parameters , e.g. the A-parameter,
are already described in literature to transpose the texture of the
steel to a
parameter which describes quantitatively the magnetic performance of
the analysed steel.
First part of the internship will be the development of a program
code which
permits to predict these texture related magnetic parameters based
on
texture measurements, i.e. raw (ASCII) data available from XRD-measurements.
Some stereometric insight is therefore required. The program can be
developed in Visual Basic
(or another program environment as desired).
The objective is to obtain an executable in which an input *.RAW-file
is read and transformed to the parameter.
Second part of the internship will be the evaluation of different
electrical steels,
industrial as well as lab scale material, with the developed program.
If the data are not available yet, textures as well as magnetic
measurements need to be performed and analysed.
In order to validate the developed program, new production of model
systems with different marked textures can be considered during the
internship. |
